Minutes for DAV Chapter 200 meeting held January 21, 2010 at Oneonta Vets Club.
Meeting was called to order at 7:15pm by Cdr. Keidel.
Officers present were Cdr. Keidel, Sr. Vice Hopper, Jr. Vice Palombo, Treasurer Alvin and Chaplain
Coates. Service Officer Donnelly was excused.
Twelve members were present.
No visitors.
December minutes
were read and accepted on a motion by Gary, 2nd by Beth.
Treasurer’s report
by Michael Alvin was approved on a motion by Lou, 2nd by Gary
Savings balance $3,321.32 Checking balance $839.22
A bill from Laura Thompson for donuts served at the December meeting was approved on a motion by Lou,
2nd by Beth. ($14.98)
Sickness and Distress:
Reports were given on Walt Henriksen and Judy Betts. Walter is home and doing well. He may be going for
more skin grafts. He said he would like to attend a meeting but still tires after a few hours of sitting.
Adjutant Thompson reported he had e-mailed Judy Betts’ husband Joe. Joe said Judy had made some trips
back to the hospital but was home.
Joe wanted to express their thanks for the Christmas gift the chapter sent.
Cdr. Keidel reported the Sidney American Legion Post was conducting a benefit for Matthew Cooke. A soldier
that was shot several times protecting another soldier who was shot at Fort Hood, Texas during the recent
attack there.
The benefit will be February 20, 2010 from 1-5pm at the Sidney Post on 22 Union St., Sidney, NY. Dinner and

Membership:
Adjutant Thompson reported 3 departed comrades. Ronald Fazio, John Kabot Jr. and Jeffrey Ogno.
No action was taken on department’s request for us to pay members dues to bring us up to quota.
January roster showed 4 new members Patrick Flood, James Slater Sr., Jerome Ventra and Wendy York.
Communications
were read and placed out for all to see.
Committee reports:
Adjutant Thompson reported he has the information about "Concurrent Pay" he got from the Military.com web
site.
The $200.00 gift card for Mary Jane VanEtten’s family was mailed to them before Christmas.
The "Cell Phones for Soldiers" program has a drop off site in Oneonta. The information is on a poster in the
Vets Club entrance.
Adjutant Thompson reported that due to the fact that the Albany VA Hospital has not been able to provide us
with a title to the 2004 DAV van we sold on bids, it was necessary to return the money Mr. Robert Wing paid
for the van. ($3,300.00)
When we do receive the title a decision will be made on how to dispose of it.
Several members of Chapter 200 attended a memorial service in Franklin, NY. on January 19th for Nickolas
Uzenski, a Marine killed in Afghanistan.
Ken Taylor, a member of 200 will attend a meeting in Franklin concerning a Veterans Monument they
propose to erect. He will get information in case the chapter should like to donate.
Adjutant Thompson said he has the list of e-mail addresses and phone numbers sent back from the survey.
He will try to get the notification system up and running soon.
Unfinished business:
The State Executive Committee Meeting is being held on March 12,13 and 14th at Hudson Valley Resort,
Kerhonkson, NY.
A volunteer was called for to attend. Hearing none Gary Lord made a motion, 2nd by Michael Alvin for the
Chapter to pay for Adjutant Thompson and his wife to attend the meeting. Adjutant Thompson agreed to
attend as a nonvoting delegate.
New business:
The Wings,Wheels and Tracks Show may be at The Watervliet Arsenal this year. It was suggested we charter
a bus for the trip.
More information to come.
Door edge guards and front mud flaps will be but on the new DAV van.
No budget was set, just do it at a reasonable figure.
A motion by Gary Lord to donate $250.00 to Nickolas Uzenski’s family was approved. The money will allow
Nickolas’ mother to attend the funeral in Montana.
Good of the Order donations were $33.00.
A memorial service for departed Comrades was held at 8:00pm.
Meeting was adjourned in proper manner at 9:10pm.
