Minutes for DAV Chapter 200 meeting held February 18, 2010 at The Oneonta Vets Club.
The meeting was opened by Cdr. Keidel at 7:10pm.
Opening prayer was read by Chaplain Coates and Pledge of Allegiance by members and guests present.
Officers present were: Cdr. Keidel, Jr. Vice Palombo, Chaplain Coates and Service Officer Donnelly. Sr. Vice
Hopper and Treasurer Alvin were excused.
Nine members and three guests were present.
The January 2010 minutes were read by Adjutant Thompson and Approved on a motion by John, 2nd by Lou.
No treasurer’s report. Note: Adjutant Thompson will have report by the March meeting.
Bills against the Chapter: A bill for refreshments served at the January meeting was presented by Laura
Thompson. ($31.91) and a bill for chapter postage was presented by Ernest Thompson. ($44.00) Both bills
were approved on a motion by John, 2nd by Lou.
Sickness and Distress: Walter Henriksen is doing well at home but will be going back to the hospital for
more skin grafts on March 2nd.
Joe Betts e-mailed Adjutant Thompson that his wife Judy had to go back to Lourdes Hospital for pain
management. They have done more tests trying to determine the cause. Hopes and prayers go out for her
recovery.
Gary Lord has been able to get his brother moved to a VA. Home in Ohio.
This will take a big load from Gary’s shoulders knowing he will be taken care of.
Cdr. Keidel reported his son was in the hospital in Massachusetts for an Appendix operation. He is doing fine
and back on the job as a firefighter.
Membership: Laurent Pomerleau from Vernon has passed away.
Three new members were reported, James Slater from South Plymouth, a partial life member: Susan Wendy
York from Otego and Peter Tiller from Hobart, both life members.
This should help us reach our quota for Department of New York 100% membership. Quota is 285 life
members. As of 1/8/2010 we had 281.
All Communications were read and placed out for all to see.
Committee reports: Adjutant Thompson said he is still checking on the military vehicle show and would like
to arrange a bus trip to the show.
Adjutant Thompson also reported he and his wife Laura attended the memorial service for Ronald Fazio held
at the Oneonta Vets Club on Saturday, February 13th. Ron passed away in Delaware on December 24, 2009.
The door edge guards and mud flaps have not yet been put on the new DAV van. This is needed to protect
the doors from damage mostly when they are opened under the parking canopy. The front mud flaps will help
keep the slush and dirt off the van running boards. The slush can be a dangerous condition.
Unfinished business: A motion by John, 2nd by Lou giving Adjutant Thompson permission to investigate the
cost and date for a luncheon for the DAV van drivers was approved. The V.F.W. Post in Sidney, NY. will be
contacted as they have hosted the event in the past.
New business: At the January 2010 meeting the chapter voted to send Adjutant Thompson and his wife to
the March S.E.C. meeting.
At this meeting 2/18/10 Adjutant Thompson asked that they be relived from going and Service Officer Donnelly
go in their place.
Grant Coates seconded the request and it was approved for John to go at the chapter’s expense.
A letter had been read under communications from the Unadilla Boy Scout Troop #1 requesting a donation to
help support their upcoming Centennial Encampment on May14-15-16.
A motion by John, 2nd by Grant to donate $200.00 to the UHA Troop 1 Centennial was Approved.
It was noted that the Chapter regulations allow for a handicapped boy scout committee.
Everyone was reminded that at the March 18th meeting there will be nominations for new 2010-
2011 Chapter Officers.

A memorial service for departed Comrades was held at 8:00pm.
