Minutes for DAV 200 meeting held April 17, 2008 at Oneonta Vets’ Club.

Meeting called to order at 7:05 pm by Cmdr. Keidel.

Opening prayer by Grant Coates. Pledge of Allegiance led by Cmdr. Keidel.

Officers present: Cmdr Keidel, Sr. Vice Donnelly, Treasurer Thompson.    Jr. Vice Hopper was absent
and Chaplain Payne was excused (out of town).

13 members present.

Minutes of March meeting were read and approved on a motion by Grant, 2nd by Art Gales.

March Treasurers’ report was approved on a motion by Tony, 2nd by Pete.

A $58.45 bill for refreshments and lunch material served during NSO William Gibney’s visit on April
9, 2008 was submitted by Laura Thompson.

The bill was approved on a motion by John, 2nd by Art.

Sickness & Distress: It was reported that Norm Payne will be home from Florida by May 1st.  Ivan
Winner will also be back soon and will be taking Chemo for his cancer. We wish him well and a speedy
recovery.

Adam Young passed away. When he was a teenager he had a heart transplant. Adam died at the age of
22. His parents were Loren and Nancy Young. Nancy worked in the Sidney and Bainbridge VA Clinic
for many years, a great friend to the veterans she honored. A sympathy card was sent.

Membership:   2 new members and 1 transfer were reported on the activity sheet and 3 new applications
for membership were taken on April 9th. William Waltz, Stephen Rudloff, Richard Beach.

Communications were read and placed out for all to see.

Grave decoration ( Flags ) will be Sunday, May 18th  7:00 AM at Vets Club for assignments. Breakfast
after at Club.

Committees:  14 people were interviewed by NSO William Gibney during his visit on April 9th. The
three afore mentioned applications were taken at that time. Lunch and refreshments were served by Mrs.
Thompson.

Chapter 200 is signed up to participate in the Sidney Home Town Parade on June 17th. Let’s make
a good showing, so if interested contact Cmdr. Keidel or Adjutant Thompson.

Unfinished business:  The 2 storage cabinets purchased from Sears are in the garage under the Vet’s
Club. They must be assembled and will be used to store chapter material.

A call for any new nomination for a chapter office was made by Adjutant Thompson, hearing none,
nominations were closed.
The slate of Officers set at the March 2008 meeting was elected by the Adjutant casting one white ballot.

Officers for the 2008-2009 term are:

Elmer Hopper, Jr. Vice Commander
Walter Henriksen, Treasurer
Grant Coats, Chaplain
Ernest Thompson was appointed Adjutant by Cmdr. Keidel.

New business:  The Forget- Me- Not Drive for this year was discussed and May 24-25 at Oneonta
Wal-Mart and Oneonta Southside Mall was decided to be the best days.
We will need chapter members to help out at the tables. A few minutes a day will make a big difference.
It’s a good way to help the chapter because the Forget Me Not’s are our biggest fund raiser.
We can line up times at the next chapter meeting May 15, at 7:00pm.

A benefit Dinner and Blue Grass Music fund raiser for Chapter 200 was announced by Adjutant
Thompson. The benefit will be May 17th  7:00pm at the Sidney VFW Post. Tickets are $15.00 single,
$25.00 Couple.

Contact Cmdr. Keidel, Adjutant Thompson or Walt Henriksen for tickets.

The Sidney VFW is putting on the smorgasbord and a least two bands will play after dinner.

Come out for a good time.
