Minutes for DAV Chapter 200 meeting held on April 19, 2007 at Oneonta Vet’s Club.
Meeting opened at 7:05pm by Cmdr Henricksen with opening prayer and pledge of allegiance.
Officers present: Cmdr Henriksen, Sr. Vice Cmdr Keidel, Jr. Vice Cmdr Hopper, Chaplain Payne and
Treasurer Thompson. (11) members were present
Reading of the minutes for January was approved.
Note: February meeting was cancelled because of snow. March meeting did not have a quorum of
members so no business was conducted.
The Treasurer’s report for January was accepted. No business in February.
Three checks written by Treasurer Thompson for The Military Ball Committee, chapter postage and
Forget-Me-Not seeds were approved.
Two bills submitted by Laura Thompson for refreshments at chapter meetings were approved.
Sickness and Distress: It was reported that David Colliton and Harry Fancher have passed away. Harry
Callahan is in Countryside Care, Delhi recovering from neck surgery.
Membership: We have six new life members. Two members were dropped by National, David Lewis
and Richard Allen.
Communications: Larry Stoppelli donated $50.00 to the New Van Account.
All other correspondence was read and placed out for all to see.
No committee reports. No old business.
New Business: Election of Chapter Officers for 2007-2008
Nominations were opened from the floor.
Walter Henriksen and Ernst Keidel were nominated for Commander.
John Donnelly for Sr. Vice Cmdr.
Elmer Hopper for Jr. Vice Cmdr.
Norman Payne for Chaplain
Ernest Thompson for Treasurer
Adjutant will be appointed by the next Cmdr.
A motion by Norm Payne, 2nd by John Donnelly to close nominations was approved.
It was decided a show of hands would be used to elect the Cmdr.
The vote showed Ernst Keidel winning by the count of Five to Four, with Two not voting A motion made
by Jerry Shannon, 2nd by Norm Payne for the Adjutant to cast one white ballot for the remaining slate of
officers was approved.
Call to State Convention was discussed and Chapter Service Officers Norm Payne and John Donnelly
will be going as delegates and to be recertified as service officers.
There will be a parade and military vehicle show in Cobleskill on May 19th. The chapter has been invited
to participate. Some members expressed interest in going. Contact Adjutant Thompson 607-764-8134.
A motion by John Donnelly, 2nd by Lou Palumbo to donate $25.00 to the Ladies Aux. VFW Post 7062
in Altamont was passed. The ladies did a great job on Valentine’s Day at The Albany VAMC.
The Sidney Home Town Day Parade on June 9th was discussed. No plans were set.
Chapter 200 website was explained and the possibility of joining the department of NY web site was
brought up. Web master Keidel will check it out. The chapter web site is http://dav200.org
We are planning a joint meeting of all Vet’s Club members to learn our options at the area nursing
homes, Oxford Veterans’ Home, Otsego County The Manor, etc. We will also invite Otsego County
Veterans’ Representative Tex Seaman to this meeting.
The annual Forget-Me-Not fund raiser will be May 25th & 26th at Oneonta Wal-Mart and Oneonta
Southside Mall. For information and to volunteer to work contact Ernest Thompson, 607-764-8134
Good of the Order donations were $29.00
A memorial service for departed comrades was held at 8:00pm.
Meeting was adjourned at 9:10pm after closing prayer and salute to the flag of our country.
