Minutes for DAV Chapter 200 meeting held May 15, 2998 at Oneonta Vets Club.
Meeting called to order at 7:05 PM by CDR Keidel.
Opening prayer by Chaplain-elect Coates. Pledge of Allegiance led by CDR Keidel.
Officers present: CDR Keidel, SVC Donnelly, Treas. Thompson, Chaplain Payne, JVC Hopper was
absent.
11 members were present.
John Case and Harold Funke were guests and Harold took an application for membership.
April 2008 minutes were read and Approved on a motion bt Walt Henriksen, 2nd by John Donnelly.
April Treasurer’s report was approved on a motion by Walt Herikson, 2nd by John Donnelly.
Bills against the chapter: Laura Thompson: $14.98 for donuts served at April meeting. Motion by Walt
Henriksen, 2nd by Grant Coates.
Ernst Keidel: $107.40 for DAV200 website thru May 2008 and $14 for 2 magnetic DAV decals for use
on parade vehicles. Check #1444 ($121.40) Motion by Jerry Shannon, 2nd by John Donnelly.
Mang Insurance Agency: $295.00 for chapter liability insurance for 2008-2009. Motion to pay by Lou
Palombo, 2nd by Jerry Shannon. - All motions to pay bills passed by voice vote.
Sickness and Distress: Jim O’Connor is home, recovering from gall bladder surgery. Elmer
Hopper’s brother did not die as was thought.
Membership:3 new members: Donald Gaughan, Raymond May, and Donald Carr. 1 transfer: Jeffrey
Ogno.
Art Gales reported reported he had checked on some missing members and has a current address for
Dennis Lowes in Carmel, NY.
All communications were read and placed out for all to see.
Committees: Reservations have been made at Oneonta Wal-Mart and Southside Mall for the chapter to
have a Forget -Me-Not fundraiser. The dates of May 23-24 have been set. We need chapter members
to work at the tables.
Saturday night, May 17th 7:00 PM at Sidney VFW Post, the Sidney Post will hold a Dinner and Blugrass
Concert to benefit Chapter 200. All money raised will be donated to Chapter 200.
Sunday, May 18th 7:00 AM, be at the Vets Club to put flags on veterans’ graves. Wear proper
footwear and bring a pair of pliers to tighten the flag holder on the shaft.
Monday, May 26th is Momorial Day. Form at 9:00 AM in Neahwa Park for parade at 10:00 AM.
Service in the park will be at 11:00 AM. Open House at the Vets Club following the services. Please
bring food for the buffet to the club before noon.
Unfinished business: Storage cabinets are still in the garage under the club and have not yet been put
together.
New business: The following members were installed as Chapter Officers by Past CDR Ernest
Thompson:
Ernst Keidel - Commander
John Donnelly - Senior Vice Commander
Elmer Hopper - Junior Vice Commander
Grant Coates - Chaplain
Walter Henriksen - Treasurer
Ernest Thomson was appointed Adjutant by CDR Keidel
Norman Payne and John Donnelly will serve as Chapter Service Officers and will be attending the
Department Convention as Chapter Delegates.

A discussion wasa held on trying to get permission to use the DAV van for fundraisers and parades, to
create more public awareness of our services. Lou Palombo will work on a letter to the Vision 2

Memorial Salute to departed comrades was held at 8:00 PM.
