Minutes for DAV Chapter 200 held May 21, 2009 at Oneonta Vets Club.

Meeting called to order by CDR Keidel at 1910 Hours. Meeting opened in proper manner with prayer and
Pledge of Allegiance. Officers present were:

Junior Vice Commander Hopper        Treasurer Henriksen        
Chaplain Coates was excused and is in Washington DC for Memorial Day events.  Thirteen members were
present.

Visitors were Judy Betts, Barbara Boone and Cathy Winner.
Auxiliary members Laura Thompson and Valerie Henriksen were also present.

The Minutes for April 16, 2009 meeting were read and then approved on a motion by Walt, 2nd by Al.
The report by Treasurer Henriksen was accepted on a motion by John, 2nd by Pete. A checking account
balance of $5158.86 was reported.
Bills for donuts, office supplies, lunch after Norman Payne’s committal and the chapter insurance policy were
approved and paid.

Sickness and Distress Walt Henriksen said he is half done with his radiation treatments and is doing fairly
well.

Membership Bill Eardley is a new member.
Joseph Betts transferred into Chapter 200 from a chapter in Florida.

Communications were read and placed out for all to see.

Committee Reports May 1st was the committal for Norman Payne, Sr.
CDR Keidel, Adjutant Thompson, Laura Thompson, Ivan and Cathy Winner attended from Chapter 200. CDR
Keidel, ADJ Thompson and Mrs. Thompson met at Morey’s Restaurant for lunch after the burial. The cost of
this lunch was borne by Chapter 200.        
ADJ Thompson brought a form from the Albany VA that CDR Keidel signed, donating the new van to the VA
Hospital. When the hospital is finished with this van, they will return it to the chapter.

ADJ Thompson reported about 14 showed up on May 17th to put flags on the veterans’ graves in the
Oneonta cemeteries. We need more help, as they need to be removed on November 1st ADJ also reported
he went on a bus trip to the Intrepid Museum an NYC. It is impressive and worth the  trip for anyone interested
in ships and aircraft.
Stanley Fish explained about a calendar he wants to make to show the world would be if we had lost WW2.
Germany and Japan planned to divide the United States at the Mississippi River.
Service Officer Donnelly explained how everyone must apply for their veteran’s property tax exemption. Check
with your local tax assessor.

Unfinished Business Names of members who will work at the Forget-Me-Not tables were taken and some
schedules were worked out. Those signed up were: John, Elmer, Walt, Valerie, Grumpy, Joe, Judy, Ernie,
Laura and Lou. Roger DeChiara agreed to take two collection cans for use at his yard sale.

New Business Past Commander John Donnelly performed a swearing in ceremony for the incoming chapter
officers.
The OK was given for the Adjutant to order sympathy cards for chapter members. ADJ Thompson will check
the cost of ordering flag holders for members’ graves.

Good of the Order was $27.oo
Memorial Service to departed comrades was at 2000 Hours.
Closing and adjournment was at 2050 Hours.
