Minutes for May 17, 2007 meeting of DAV Chapter 200 held at Oneonta Vet’s Club.



Meeting opened in proper manner by Cmdr. Henriksen at 7:20pm.

Officers present were: Cmdr. Henriksen, Sr. Vice Keidel, Jr. Vice Hopper, Chaplain Payne was
excused for illness, Treasurer Thompson, Service Officer Donnelly.

Seven members were present.

No visitors.

April minutes were read and a motion to accept by John 2nd by Jerry was approved.

April treasurer’s report was approved on a motion by John 2nd by Jerry.

A bill presented by Laura Thompson for $13.98 for refreshments was approved on a motion by
Walt 2nd by John.

Under sickness and distress it was reported that Frank Calcaterra, Fredrick Tompkins, Robert
Bryant and Paul Brienza have died.

A motion by Jerry, 2nd by John was voted to donate $25.00 to Hospice of Delhi in memory of
Frank Calcaterra and $25.00 to the Hoptel at Albany VAMC in memory of Webster “Red�
Sherman.

Red Sherman was not a DAV member but he was a Navy veteran and a  DAV van rider. His
family requested donations be made to the Hoptel.

Communications were read and placed out for all to see.

Committee reports: A table at Oneonta Southside Mall is reserved for the Forget-Me-Not fund
raiser on May 25 & 26. A request has been sent to Oneonta Wal-Mart but no response as of this
date.

Armed Forces Day parade in Cobleskill on Saturday May 19th. Those going please contact
Adjutant Thompson. The Sidney Home Town Day parade is June 9th, no plans have been made.

The rules for using the DAV van were discussed. The van can be used only to transport veterans to
and from their appointments. No parades, no fund raisers, no transporting groups, etc. Adjutant
Thompson has a copy of the Network 2 policy governing DAV Vans and van drivers.

Sr. Vice Cmdr. Keidel reported on the burning of unserviceable flags.

The ceremony was held at Adjutant Thompson’s house on May 8th, which is VE Day (Victory
in Europe WW2). Twelve flags were destroyed in a proper manner with respect.

Cmdr. Henriksen, Sr. Vice Cmdr. Keidel, Adjutant Thompson, DAVA members Valerie Henriksen
and Laura Thompson all participated in the ceremony

Flag Committee Chairman Keidel reported he has 9 flags left to be used to replace any
unserviceable flags. If you know of a flag that needs to be replaced; contact Sr. Vice Keidel about a
new flag. Donations are accepted from the person receiving the flag.

New Business: A motion by Jerry Shannon, 2nd by John Donnelly to pay Mang Ins. for chapter
liability insurance was passed. ($295.00)

Officer installation will be at the June chapter meeting.

The OK was given for Mrs. Thompson to place new flowers in the box under the club sign. No
dollar amount was set; just keep it within reason.

John Donnelly said he would like to see the chapter use The Mercury News, for chapter notices.

Memorial service to departed comrades held at 8:00pm.

A motion by Jerry, 2nd by John to adjourn the meeting was passed.

Adjournment with closing prayer and salute to the flag of our country was at 8:50pm.
