Minutes for DAV Chapter 200 meeting held July 16, 2009 at Oneonta Vet’s Club.
Meeting called to order at 7:20 by Cdr. Keidel in proper manner with opening prayer by Acting Chaplain Lou
Palombo and pledge of allegiance.
Officers present were Cdr. Keidel, Sr. Vice Hopper, Jr. Vice Palombo, and SO Donnelly. Treasurer Henriksen
was excused and Chaplain Coates was absent.
13 Members were present.
Minutes of the June meeting were read and approved on a motion by Gary Lord, 2nd by Lou, after an
addition to include DAVA member Laura Thompson as being present to serve refreshments.
No treasurer’s reports were given.
Laura Thompson presented a bill for donuts and lunch food served June 18th. June 18th was a workday by
NSO William Gibney. ($71.79)
The bill was approved on a motion by Lou, 2nd by John.
Sickness and Distress: Harold Bailey of Afton has passed away.
A request was made to have deceased comrades placed on the taps list in the DAV Department Newsletter.
Membership: A motion was made by John, 2nd by Lou to have the Chapter pay the registration fee of $25.00
for Beth Akulin to be registered at The Women in Military Service Memorial in Washington, DC.
The motion was approved and Beth will fill out the application and submit it to the Adjutant to be mailed.
Committee Reports: Adjutant Thompson reported he has received the 3 bronze and 12 plastic DAV grave
flag holders and a new DAV flag for the outside pole.
Adjutant Thompson gave a report on the DAV Department of New York Convention held June 28-July 1, 2009.
This report is attached.
No report of the Scholarship Committee.
No report on the Chenango County fair booth. Joe Betts was not present.
Flag committee chairman Keidel said he has collected many unserviceable flags and would like to set a date
for a flag burning.
The date will be set at the August meeting.
Old business: Cdr. Keidel will chair a committee of Adjutant Thompson and Beth Akulin to work out a system
of communication to more quickly and easily contact the membership.
Adjutant Thompson will check with city officials to see about regulations on a ramp from the sidewalk outside
the club down to the club parking lot.
Also the price of concrete steps from the parking lot to the sidewalk.
A motion was made by Beth, 2nd by Gary to pay Lou Palombo $54.00 for a new vacuum cleaner to be used in
the club dinning room. The motion passed.
New business: A motion by Lou, 2nd by John for the chapter to buy fifty copies of The Declaration of
Independence from the Heritage Foundation at $.50 per copy passed. ($25.00)
Gary Lord will contact Allen Hobson about visiting a chapter meeting to explain the activities program of the
Oxford Vets Home.

Memorial service to departed comrades was at 8:00pm.
