Officers present: Sr. Vice Donnelly, Jr. Vice Hopper, Treasurer Henriksen, Chaplain Coates,
Service Officer Payne was excused for illness.
No visitors but Comrade Alfonzo Masciandaro attended for the first time.
July minutes were read and accepted on a motion by Walt, 2nd by Grant.
July treasurer’s report balance was $3719.20. Report was accepted.
Sickness & Distress: Adjutant Thompson reported that Michael Roman has passed away.
Membership: An application for membership was accepted from Gena Hulse of Gloversville; a Navy
veteran.
All communications were read and placed out for all to see.
A change in the name of The Colorado Trust to The Columbia Trust was reported and a discussion on the
Chapters DAV Van took place.
It was decided that Adjutant Thompson should check into the procedure for the chapter to purchase a
new van for use next year. A motion on this matter was made by Grant Coates, 2nd by Lou Polumbo and
passed.
Committees: Adjutant Thompson reported he had met with Barry Cole, Joe Franklin and others on
August 12 at the former Camp Brace Facility in Masonville, NY. The meeting was to discuss a use for the
property. A plan is being put together to hopefully use it for some kind of veterans programs.
The chapter would like Adjutant Thompson to attend any future meetings and keep the chapter informed.
Adjutant Thompson also reported that a 1996 Ford Windstar Van used to transport veterans to
appointments had been transferred back to Chapter 200.
The van needs work to make it serviceable. Several options were discussed but no decision was reached.
The van is still in Albany and will be brought to Adjutant Thompson’s house until a decision is made.
A list of items now in the chapter storage cabinets in the club garage was presented by Adjutant
Thompson.
In his usual pleasant way Pete Pedersen informed me he did not receive a birthday card this year. I
apologize for this even though I do not understand how I messed up. If anyone else on the chapter roster
did not get a card this past year please contact me or send me your birth date.
Unfinished business: A motion was made by Grant, 2nd by Lou to send $50.00 to “Care Packages
from Home to help them buy postage to send item collected to troops overseas. This is a local group
working to support the troops. The program was recommended by a member, Michael Soldan and
checked out on the internet and locally. The motion passed.
New business: The plaque for the Sidney VFW has arrived and I hope to present it at the VFW meeting
on September 11, 7:00pm.
The Certificates of Merit for all the bluegrass band members are ready and will be mailed because they are
so spread out it’s difficult to get them together at one place.
The plaque and certificates are to thank everyone for the fundraiser put on at the Sidney VFW Post back
on May 17, 2008.
In business related in awards the members asked if we could get them locally. We should try to get the
DAV emblem so a local supplier can make us plaques and trophies.
Good of the Order donations were $22.00.
A memorial service to departed comrades was held at 8:00pm.
A motion by Grant, 2nd by Walt to adjourn at 8:20 was passed.
