Minutes for DAV Chapter 200 meeting held September 20, 2007 at Oneonta Vet’s Club.
Meeting opened at 7:05pm in proper manner by Cmdr. Keidel.
Officers present were Cmdr. Keidel, SVC. Donnelly, JVC. Hopper, Chaplain Payne, Treasurer
Thompson.
11 members were present.
No visitors but James Byers of Afton attended for the first time.
The August meeting minutes were read and approved on a motion by John, 2nd by Norm.
The July & August financial reports were given and approved on a motion by Walt, 2nd by John.
A check written to Northeast Shredding, LLC for $45.50 was approved on a motion by Jerry, 2nd by
John. This was done to assist the Oneonta Office of The New York State Division of Veterans Affairs,
to dispose of old paperwork. The Division does not have a budget to allow for commercial shredding.
Bills against the chapter presented by Ernest Thompson for office supplies ($79.57) and Laura
Thompson for donuts ($13.98) were approved on a motion by Walt, 2nd by John.
Adjutant Thompson reported Morris Jung is in Valley View Nursing Home, Norwich, NY. and that
William Crandell of Sidney passed away July 28th.
It was reported that Adjutant Thompson’s sister has passed away and the chapter voted to donate
$25.00 to The American Diabetes Asso. in the name of Diane Weaver.
Under membership several address changes have been recorded and transfers into #200 by Raymond
and John Dahl were approved on a motion by John Donnelly, 2nd by Jerry Shannon.
Communications were read and placed out for all to see.
Of special interest were two Certificates of Merit issued by The Cobleskille Veterans Organizations to
Chapter 200 for participating in the Armed Forces Day Parade.
It was suggested by Adjutant Thompson that we have a Joke of the month contest.
Committees: Service Officer Norman Payne reported that 25 Veterans claims were handled during the
August visit by NSO William Gibney. He also reported that the Otsego County Senior Citizens
Newsletter has a Veteran’s Corner. He will get information on how a county resident can receive
the Newsletter.
Oneonta Southside Mall and Oneonta Wal-Mart Store will be contacted for a Forget-me-not drive to
be held November 9-10, 2007.
Next meeting we will have information on health care proxies, DNR’s, etc.
Adjutant Thompson reported the license plate frames and window decals he ordered have been
discontinued but some replacements may be available on line.
The members of Chapter 200 feel it is their duty to recognize that September 21st this year is National
POW/MIA Day and urge everyone to observe it in some way. POW/MIA Day is the third Friday of
September each year.

A memorial salute to departed comrades was held at 8:00pm.
Good of the Order donations were $25.00.
Closing prayer, salute to the flag of our country and then adjournment at 8:35pm.
