The Flag Committee
The pictures below illustrate why we have a flag committee! Many places
display American flags which are tattered, torn, faded or otherwise in shameful
condition. The chapter has voted to make funds available for purchase of a
number of replacement flags and we go and contact the flag owners and try to
persuade them to change to a more serviceable display. Donations are always
welcome but rare!
                                       Burning the Flag(s)
Past Commander Ernest Thompson, Commander-elect "Grumpy" Ernst Keidel, and
Commander Walt Henriksen pay final respects to a dozen worn-out and unserviceable
American flags at a formal flag burning on VE (Victory in Europe) Day at Mount
Upton, NY.
                         That 9-11 Flag!

The very flag displayed between two fire truck ladders at the 9-11
memorial ceremonies at the World Trade Center site after the
fact, is in my (
Grumpy) possession.  It was displayed on the flag
pole at our Veterans Club on 9-11-09. Alas, the flag pole is a little
short to properly fly this large flag, so the end had to be bungee'd
up lest it touch the ground.
